The AFAE is not-for-profit association who brings together people who aim to promote a culture of listening and raise awareness of issues around sound and our sonic environment. We encourage discussion, debate, education, practical activities, events and research.
As members, we want to support and promote your work. We are directly connected with the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology and can provide a valuable platform to share your projects and research with a global audience. If you would like to be involved in planning AFAE activities, or have your own ideas, please don't hesitate to contact us. Please suggest ideas or projects that you believe are well aligned with the AFAE and we can help bring them to fruition. Members are welcome to host local AFAE meetings, sound walks or events and we are always happy to promote your acoustic ecology activities and research through our national database. The AFAE are also passionate about connecting our members with a global community working in the interdisciplinary field of acoustic ecology. The AFAE exists to connect and support our members and expand the awareness and engagement around acoustic ecology community across Australia.
Annual membership includes a quarterly newsletter, participation in all our publications and activities, a digital copy of Soundscape - the official journal of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology and special discounts on affiliated events. AFAE members can promote events and activities through our national database and global network through the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology. Members are also provided with support for applying for grants (including support letters, advice and in-kind support to deliver the proposed project). AFAE Membership allows you to vote at our AGM and join our executive or management committees. As a not-for-profit our membership enables us to create more opportunities for the acoustic ecology community, so please consider joining us!
